Week 1:
Learn the basics of drypoint etching - an adapted version of traditional etching where designs are scratched into the surface of metal and etched using an acid bath. For this, we will be using plastic plates that can be inked up and printed through a press.
Intro to Printmaking - Mini Course
In this brand new, 3 week mini course, you will learn multiple printmaking techniques including drypoint and mono printing. This course is designed for beginners, to give you an insight into the basics of printmaking, which can be developed across multiple processes.
Week 2:
In the second week, we will build on our skills learned in week 1 and experiment with recycled materials - these will be provided but you can also bring some things to try out! We will also introduce embossing into this process by shaping and adding materials in the pressing stage to create depth to our prints.
Week 3:
In our final week, we will try out a new process; trace monoprinting. Within this, you will use your skills with registration and markmaking to create a multi coloured print. Prints made in previous weeks can be developed and added to using this process.
